Purple Tang Is Knocking On Deaths Door.

I don't get this my Purple Tang which I've had for 2 years has gone through lots and after I switched tanks he got a little stressed out and had a few flakes of ick but after a water change the ick dissapeared. He's always been a good eater and last night he didn't want to eat. I knew something was up and today at lunch time I confirmed when I saw him lying on his side behind the rock. I thought he was dead and was going to pull him out but he moved a little therefore he is still alive but I doubt he will be alive by the time I get off work.

I'm puzzled as to why he died, he was eating fine didn't show any ick and seemed to be a happy camper.

All the other fish seem fine. I hope this has nothing to do with my puffer that died in my other tank :cry: .

I had just run a few checks on the tank last night and PH was at 8.05 ALK was at 2.9 and salinity was at 1.023 . PH is a little low but I've had it lower at 7.95 with no problems. All the other fish look fine .

Sorry to hear about the fish. Strange for you to have problems like this all the sudden and in two different tanks. Have you changed anything lately such as salt, fish food, or water source? Added any new rock or corals to both the tanks? Just curious if there was anything that could have been contaminated with something. Hopefully, nothing else happens and this is just an isolated occurance.

I had a nice and lengthy talk with KEN (KAKFISH) and he pretty much described exactly how the fish looked. As to why it happened I'm not a 100% sure but I think it had something to do with moving them into this new tank and that this tank is upstairs and is a few degrees hotter then it was downstairs or maybe the addition of my possum wrasse or coral banded. I'm not sure but the next 28 days will be crucial.

I will now start isolating equipment for each tank to avoid cross contamination between them.
