Your mystery softy looks like an encrusting gorgonian.
I have thought about braking up the rock of it that I have. Then gluing all the pieces to a tunga branch. I think it would look cool if it covered over a nice branch.

Something similar came on my live rock, Ive been wondering for a while what it was, encrusting softy, etc. It's about 3'4" square, and polypls completely dissapear when disturbed (just a greyish purplish mound), polyps when open, look whiter, but still similar color to base.

Nice tank - Minibowis an awesome tank. That dwarf lion will grow very fast! Mine was 2" when I got him 4 months ago - he's pushing 3.5" - 4" now.
