I'll be making a 18 gallon Fuge that will sit next to my main tank at about the same hight. I will be pumping water into fuge from sump and feed back to sump gravity fed through bulkhead drilled at the top of tank.
What size pump would be best waterflow wise? I was thinking that a Maxijet 1200 would be ok but not sure of the head hight on those. The pump will need to pump approx 3 ft head and the bulkhead planned is 3/4 inch.

Thanks
Cliff

Cliff;

I'd probably not use the maxijet; i used one on my drilled nano as a return (very similar application) and it was only good for about 2 weeks before I'd have to clean it or it would shut down. Even that little bit of pressure really is too much for a small powerhead. The problem is getting a pump that's powerful enough to handle 3 ft of head consistently without giving too much flow. I guess a mag 3 or eheim would be good; maybe the eheim 1250, or whatever the number is for the 300gph pump.

Thanks, I may look into the mag 3. I really like their pumps and don't care for the eheim prices.
