In past posts members have gone to Thad Ziegler Glass. Is that one you tried?

Alamo Aquatics Will Take The Tank To Aqua Trend for $15 or $25 bucks a hole.

I called Aqua Trend off of Basse and they will do them for $20 a hole if you take it into them. I've also heard that the Thad Ziegler over by Culebra will do them if they have the correct bit size.

Before you go to Aqua trend, make sure they are aware that you are not a business. Unless they have changed their policy, they only deal with businesses and not with individuals. They used to charge $10 a hole but are now up to $20. If you end up having to go thru Alamo or any other store, ask if you can take you tank over to Aqua trend. This will help in two ways, first they will drill the holes while you wait and second you can make sure the holes go where you want them. The first time I did this they drill the hole in the wrong side. Good luck what ever you chose.

I got some larger holes drilled at Binswanger - depends on who you ask it seems as to what they quote you and if they will even do it. I did buy some smaller bits for drilling glass from www.harborfreight.com and I am sure you can track them down for larger size holes.

that's a real good deal. good for a 3/4" bulkhead since a rainbow lifeguard bulkhead needs a 1 1/2" hole. as for a 1" bulkhead the schedule 80 bulkhead needs a 1 7/8" hole so i'm kinda a curious if the 2" (1/8" bigger) hole would make a difference. i'm pretty certain it wouldn't fall threw or leak with the gasket, but unsure of anyother drawbracks. i know it would in the rainbow brand which does need a 1 3/4" hole, 2" would be way to big .

I second the idea of going to aquatrends yourself; they drilled my tank wrong twice in a row. This was a tank I ordered from them through alamo, I sent aquatrends a fax with a clear diagram and very specific measurements, and they still got it wrong until I went there, pointed to the exact spot, and said "here, please!" The guy there obviously has a lot of experience in the actual drilling; it was quick and precise. I just think they're not very good at reading instructions or diagrams.

also check savko.com they sell the schedule 80 bulkheads which is heavyduty compared to the rainbow or oceanic ones. i just looked on there site and they list two sizes of holes needed for the 1" bulkhead a 1 7/8" hole and on the ordering page a 2" hole. i don't know if they're both correct or what, might need to give them a call. i really don't think 1/8" bigger hole could pose much of a problem, i could be wrong. if it'll work this bit set is a hell of a deal!!!!!
