Just bought a pair of GS maroon clown fish from CB Pets(great place).
Have a 135 with 150+ of LR and 2 pc 96 watt lights(192 watts total)not much light. LR comes within 6 to 8 inches from top of aqarium&lights are
10 inches above that in canopy. What is cheapest thing I can do to survive
a anamone even if it's just to one side?
Can you recommend a anemone?
Thanks

If I'm doing my math right, then you have 1.4 watts per gallon in your tank. I have a rather large bubble tip in a 37 gal with 1.7 watts per gallon. He seems to be doing ok, but I can tell you from expierence that they will NOT stay where you put them. Now, I am far from an expert on this subject, but I feel that my anenome is doing ok, so I would assume if your rock is high enough, and your water quality is good enough, that you should be ok. If I am wrong, someone jump in QUICKLY please!

The number of watts per gallon don't matter as much as how far from the light the anemone is. You can have a 20 gallon, or a 2000 gallon tank, but if the anemone is 3" deep with a 96w light he's getting the same amount of light. That seems to be a little on the low side, but the anemone would probably survive. It would really do well with more light though. I had a LTA in a 55 gallon with 2 55w PCs and 2 40w actinics once that lived for a couple of years, so it can be done.

Some E. quads (BTA) are naturally from deeper water. I think the flow, substrate, and food issues are more critical, but I've never tried to keep one under low light. In my tank, my anemone has always shunned the higher light areas, and moved under a ledge.

Watts per gallon is never a good way to determine if you have enough light.
ex.
200w of NO lighting over a 20 gallon = 10w per gallon
Even with 10w per gallon of NO lighting, you will not be able to keep any lighting sensitive SPS or clams.
If and when the anemone starts to wonder around the tank, and moves down. That could result in the death of the anemone. Also, E. Quads and other anemones deprived of light will start to fade in color. You will also notice that they will extent their base more as they try to capture more light.
