Need Advice

i have had a 400w mh running for about 3 weeks and when i got home the mh was off, so I plugged it back in and it was fine for about 20 minutes and then the lights in the house dimmed low and the MH turned off agian. do you know why this might have happened? any advice?

Could be miswired or the electrical circuit it is on is already overloaded. I would use an extension cord and plug the ballast into an outlet you know is on a different breaker than the one you currently have it on. If it does the same thing then it is something with the ballast, possibly miswired. If it works fine, then it is something with the circuit you had it on, possibly overloaded.
