Additives question

I have some Kalkwasser mix, Seachem ph buffer, and Kent ProBufffer dKH. If I'm dripping the Kalkwasser mix into my 30 gallon tank to replace evaporated water, when and how often I should I use the ph buffer and the Probuffer? Should I mix them in the tank at the same time or seperately? The ProBuffer is supposed to help with alkalinity so shouldn't I add it with the Kalk? Or is this wrong? Do I even need the ph buffer?

I drip strictly Kalk into two tanks, and drip kalk as well as a calcium reactor into another tank. I don't add anything else except water changes and an occasional dose of Lugol's.

oh, ok, i was using the probuffer for corraline growth since it has a corraline (bad spelling i know) accelerator. Anyone need some ph buffer????

I quit adding buffers and all additives after I went back to dripping Kalk. I have tried tons of products, and snake oils, but always go back to kalk. It just works.

cool, right now the way I'm dripping kalk is by mixing it in a small two gallon drinking container and then just open the pour spout so it drips slowly into the tank. You think this is a good enough way to drip it?

I drip kalk also and use some "eel oil" ESV B-ionics. What are your alk, calcium and ph readings. Also how is your tank stock? This will determine if additives are needed or like Tim possibly a calcium reactor.

Lol...eel oil...I got a kick out of that. Kalk is the way to go in my opinion...when used correctly with moderately stocked tank, the results can be major, and the effort minimal. Tim had some peristalic pumps he had, which incorportated the slow drip method. I personally have used it with my top off water, and have had good results. I'd be using it right now but my tunze top off pump just took a dive.

Alright, thanks for the straight up info joshua. you've given me good advice to use B-Ionic before, which i'm planning on doing, but right now I want to finish what I have so far. (Unless someone wants some kalk at a cheap price :?:)
Oh and by the way, those diatoms are going away now after doing a water change and I'm getting a skimmer tomorrow finally!! :-D
