My lawnmower has run out of food. I need to find something to supplement him with. He feeds freely on flake and brine shrimp but just spits it out. I need to find something that he will eat.
He looks real skinny! Helpl.

Mine will eat anything in the tank. Flakes, spirullina, nori sheets, ground up sea food from the grocery store....

Mine also Dave....I went to Alamo Aquatics this week and they suggested Green Marine Algae Sheets by Ocean Nutrition...(is this what you are talking about Josh?) He pecked at it once and from what I saw....never went back to it. If anyone else has any suggestions...cause mine doesn't eat anything else I put in the tank...and he is pretty thin...he himself is about 4 inches long...
Thanks...

I picked up 'Julian Sprung's Sea Veggies' at Aquatek today. I am not sure if my lawnmower is interested in it on not. The stuff is labeled as green seaweed (Porphyra yezoensis). I believe most people generically refer to this type of seaweed as Nori but I think Nori is a specific type of seaweed.

Throw in a small piece of uncured rock to get a diatom bloom going, or slightly overfeed. Don't go overboard though.

Thanks Joshua...will make plans to go get some...& try it out...My blue regal tang is a hog...He has eaten ALL my caulerpa. He'll prob be the one to inhale Nori...
I'll try & find a small uncured rock this weekend & try that...At one time I had a forest of hair algae on my back glass - now it is completely gone. Will see what happens.
Dave...if you try any of these ideas...keep me posted as to how he does, k?
Thanks for the ideas guys...

Well, I guess he never ate any of the Nori. He was dead this morning. It will be a while before I try another lawnmower.
Sherri...any luck?

Prof - sorry to hear you lost him. How big of a tank was it? I was going to suggest maybe thawed , rinsed broccoli florets, spirulina flake or nori like a few others did. from personal experience I would not put a lawnmower or any predominantly herbivorous fish in anything smaller than a 55 unless you have a refugium or a way to replenish the algae if they decimate it. If you want to go with another blenny that is a lot less touchy and will eat most prepared foods as well as algae try a bicolor blenny.
With the regal and the blenny in there it sounded like there was some serious competition for resources.
