Jim,
Do you still have any frogspawn frags? If so could I just bring my donation to the meeting.
Are you the man for clams?
I am looking for my first. I was thinking a small Derasa or Squamosa. What is your opinion on best beginner clam?
It will be going in a 55gallon w/ 440W VHO.
I know that MH lighting is better for clams, but it will be awhile before I upgrade tanks. So let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Adam

Adam,
The frogspawn is all gone!
IMO the best clam for your set up is a derasa or a squamosa. I would also suggest getting one that is larger than 3 inches to start. I would see Barry at www.clamsdirect.com and tell him you are a club member he has awesome clams!

Adam, also a hippopus would work well , not quite as pretty but very hardy and I think they have a certain charm.
I think you saw the clams I got form jim in my tank - the maximas are up about 3 inches below water surface - hippopus sits on the sandbed.
In addition to Barry I have bought zooanthids from Rob at www.eastcoastclams.com and he is a very nice guy to deal with. Also Bryan at the logical reef has some nice clams for fair prices too. www.thelogicalreef.com
You may also try just phish he had a special on clams not too long ago.

Jim -
Do you still have frags from your Sea World trip that will be available in return for a donation to Maast at the meeting? I had thought from earlier posts that the frogspawn and more were being saved for this but I guess not. What will you have available?
Thanks,
Chris

Wow, I thought with all the posts on here and talk from you and Misty that this was one of the main events at this meeting. I know that's why myself and some others were looking forward to going. To see those corals and possible get a frag with a donation to the club. Oh well . . .
Anyone else from S.A. going on Sunday? I need to get a few things to Ed and I don't think listening to a Red Sea rep talk up their products is worth the gas money for driving up there. Would like to see Matt's acrylic work, but may have to wait until another time.

Chris,
Sorry for the dissappointment. For me the main event was just seeing everyone and talking REEF! The meeting is being held by Austin Aquarium and RED SEA. IMO I did not want to take away from them, I thought this was the right thing to do. In the last couple of months I have had many club members come to my home were we sat and talk and saw REEF. We fragged frogspawn and some of my sps corals. I asked for nothing, but some did donate to the club! I personnally would like to see you and your others at the meeting. If others still would like some frogspawn I will be more than happy to start a list because I will be going back to Seaworld.
Thanks,
Jim

Chris,
From what I heard about the Red Sea rep when he presented to the Houston group... more than likely he'll be bringing a lot of prizes which will be auctioned off so that in itself should be worth the gas money.
