Henry,

The rock shapes look great!
Please provide some details about your order, like how much you got and how much it cost shipped.
I am considering doing this for the day I set up a larger tank and dont want to spend $3-4/ lb on live rock.

Thanks,
-Brett

Their site was not bad. 1 ton (2000 lbs) shipped for $1400. Might make a good group order!!!! My wife will not let me order it alone. She asked "What do you need with all of that rock". Like i'm gonna tell her if she don't allready know.

Nice rock,

I ordered 100 lbs earlier this year and it came out to about 88 cents per pound, with shipping.

It takes forever to get the rock encrusted with algae.

Mine is slowly getting covered with coraline algae.

I have some fairly large chunks too. One peice I estimate at 20 lbs!

Lots of holes for critters and such to live and hide in, and the huge
peice has holes my two ****sels love to swim through.

I'd be interested in ordering some more if people want to get a group order going.

I am also thinking of making some agrocrete later this year to get the shapes I want.

At .88 / lb I would definately like 100lbs or so for some for base rock.

Anybody interested?

Anybody have it for sale locally? fuzz?

I do not mind spear heading a 1 ton order. I will make a new post to find out if there is enough interest. I will also call and make sure the 1 ton pricing.

I just made about 80lbs of agrocrete rock (made it with oyster shell, portland cement and some large grain sand). I used bay sand which has alot of oyster shell in it from Rockport. This is my second batch and once cured it encrusts with coraline pretty fast. My shapes are not that great but it is rock.

The issue with 1400 for 2000 lbs is that you are paying $1.4/lb.
If you look on ebay you can find it for less then that, closer to .90-1.0 a lb.

I ordered 60 pounds of rock. There are a few pieces missing from the pics. Total shipped was $58. I was thinking of getting a little more.

Did not look close enough on the ton pricing. Ebays price was cheaper. Guess I will stick with home made rock.

Not to be a stickler but Brett's math is off, 2000lbs @ $1400 comes out to be $0.70/lb. So it is quite a bit cheaper than Ebay. Who in there right mind would sell bulk for more than small lots?

If you divide 2000 lbs by $1400 you get $1.40. If you divide $1400 by 2000 you get $.70. Simple mistake but I like the $.70 better. Lack of sleep does wonders to your mathmatic ability. Should of stuck with my first math inclination. Guess that BBA does not work all of the time.

Anyway, I emailed Hirocks to verify the total and shipping details. Will post new when I get a response.

I have had very good dealings with Hirocks. When I got my 1500/lbs from them they shipped it via Overnight Frieght and I had to pick it up there. It comes on a palate wrapped in pig wire and plastic, so make sure you have a vehicle that can lift the weight. BTW I still have about 1000lbs, about 500lbs base and about 500lbs culture with coraline growth.

Greg, I'll take some base to help grow coralline on it if you still want.
