I got a good picture this morning. This is my 20 gallon tank. He is not attached and has been moving around for the past week.

What kind is that? Has he not attached at all? What are your tank specs?

I don't know what kind it is. He is one of two. They were both anchored in the same hole in the same rock for a long time. This one just decided to pick up and move. He grabs on to a spot for a few hours and then moves. I find him in a different spot every 6-8 hours. When I took the picture he was free floating. At lunch he had grabbed on to another rock. I am sure he will move again before I get home. The other anenome has not moved.
He does not seem to be bothering anyone. The tank is happy. I have not measured my chemicals lately but the tank is a 20 long with 40 watts on it. One small powerhead for flow and a CPR bakpak for skimming.
Adding pic...

Neat pic - that anemone looks like it may be bleached if it's a bubble tip.

i have to agree that anemone is bleached and if its moving that much it's not happy. you either don't have enough lighting or water flow or both

I'm confused now. If it is bleached, isn't that a result of too much light? I have had an anemone in my tank for almost a year now. It was a nice healthy greenish color, but a few weeks ago it has turned a whitish/clear color and does not seem to expand as much as it used too. I have a 58g with a 400watt XM bulb and also have 4 95watt VHO bulbs. I am running a mag12 from the sump to 2 3/4in. sea swirls and the flow in the tank seems normal. I have had an acro and a monti bleach out as well and can't figure out what's going on in the tank. Also dealing with a cyano problem that may have started around the same time. Any ideas?

Chris - Anemones (and many other photosynthetic Cnidarians) can also bleach/expel zooxanthellae are a result of stress brought on by environmental factors other than light (too much/too little). Have you moved it recently? If it does bleach it can recover just feed it more often in the meantime and hopefully it can recover.

Thanks Mike. No I haven't moved anything in the tank. The anemone has moved down alittle from where it was at, but not much. I have heard that metal halides bulbs, including the XM bulb, can take awhile to get burned in and reach their true color. I have had the XM on the tank for awhile now after originally having an Iwasaki. Would it be possible that even though it has been several weeks if not a couple of months that the tank is finally responding to the new light?
