Just ordered a skimmer from Austin Aquarium. It is a Red Sea Berlin Prisim hang on model rated up to 300 gallons. It reminds me of a more powerful Remora Pro (which was may favorite skimmer).
Thanks Charlie!
Jim
P.S.
I also saw in their liverock tank the MOST AWESOME Tonga self rock I have ever seen! This one piece was a true center piece for a large tank.

Jim,
Are you adding this to your main tank? Have you changed your theroy on skimmers?

Yes I am. The reason is my tank has transform from a clam tank to a sps tank. The clams (mostly the big gigas) were great as filters. So we will give it a try!

Several reasons: One I need a hang on I do not have room under the stand to pumb into my sump and I do not have room to put one in the sump. This new skimmer is rated for (max) 300 gallons. It is semi slim so will fit behind my tank and wall. And after watching it in action and the ease of operation (like the Remora Pro) I decided on the Red Sea. Also I can turn it off and on with ease (like at night when my corals are feeding it will be on a timer to be turned off)
So I will give it a try!

Fabian,
That indeed is a great skimmer. And I thought about a skimmer like that but lack of space limits me.
Now on my next tank I should have more room under the stand. But right now all 8 feet is covered.

I know what you mean about running out of room. I told my wife I was going to move her plants out and place my skimmer in their place and you can imagine who won (she did). So, now I must find a way to hide it. Wish me luck because this skimmer is quite big.

I'm going to bring a skimmer and calcium reactor to the next MAAST meeting. (at least I hope the skimmer is finished by then) I'm really pleased with the way these are turning out; and I hope that other members like them too. They're really high quality materials, and well designed; primarily by Brian Ferguson, with a few of my own mods.

Jim,
If you get time, bring it by the store today. If I need to, I can swap motors with the one that is running (it has been running approx. 1.5 weeks), and get yours replaced. I will be in the store until approx. 2, and will pass the word on to Michael when he flies back in. Sorry you are having an issue.
