Hi,
I'm looking for a quiet power or canister filter for a tank inside my own room. Motor humming noise, water fall noise bug/distract me so that it's hard to fall asleep. If you know of a brand that can operate in silent, please make your recommendation. I'd rather not have to return several brand of filters back to the store becuase they make noise.

The Magnum HOT - hang on tank is very quiet. Eheim canister filters are also pretty quiet. I have a HOT you can try if you like - I will probably be going to the corpus trip and can bring it with me.

Thanks, I'm looking to buy a new filter so I can keep track of what kind of chemical/medication have been going through it. I have a Magnum HOT Pro in my closet right now. I've used it b4. There was a water fall noise from it b/c the return tube is too high above the water. But that was an old custom tank. I'll give it a try on a standard tank to see how silent it's.

I'm not sure if this will help you, but I recently bought a quiet one pump. It's basically silent, rated at 750gph with 4 feet of head pressure. I'm going to use it for my skimmer. 3/4" i/o.

I concur with the Eheim canister filter. I don't even hear it running on my 100. No water noice either.
