TRY THIS PROJECT, If your tank is on an outside wall and there is a water supply near.

Get a 4 gallon square bucket. (The one I use had mayo in it form a restraunt and it was FREE).

Drill a hole in the bottom center big enough to install a fluidmaster toilet valve.

Drill another hole (this step in optional) in the bottom and install a sink ptrap then drill a hole thru the outside wall for the drain. this is so if the valve ever sticks open water will drain outside and not flood the place.

Now drill a small hole on the bottom side of the bucket and epoxy a piece of ridged airline tubbing in it.

Get a manual float switch (I use a kent) and install it in the sump. Connect a piece of airline tubbing to the float switch then to the bucket.

Plumb the fluidmaster to the outside water supply, or if you have an ro/di unit plumb to the product water outlet.

NOW, FORGET ABOUT EVER TOPPING OFF YOUR TANK AGAIN!

I myself havent added any water to my tank in over 2 years now. This little system has NEVER failed, best of all NO pumps, dosers, just mother natures system called gravity feed.

If anyone is interested I can post some pics of this setup

Josh,
That is a possibility, however since this system is gravity feed there is really no danger of that happening IMO because the airline supplying the water is small and there is of course no pressure to deal with.
