I'm sure many of you have seen photos of really large clams but I found this on the NOAA.gov website and thought some of you might be interested. I believe it is a Giga. I can't really tell how big it is but judging by the thickness of the shell it seems pretty large. Jim do you have any idea? [/url]

It's hard to tell by the picture. The shell looks like gigas, the intake (what I can see) looks like gigas and even the coloring of the mantle looks gigas.
Go to the gallery here and compare to my picture of the gigas (who is going to Seaworld)

It is a T. gigas. If you enlarge the picture and look at the incurrent aperture, there are no tentacles on the aperture. This is the unique characteristic of T. gigas incomparison to the other four Tridacna speices.
