I have been getting some red slime (with bubbles) on my LR and a red film on the LS. In some areas it almost looks like gelatin. Water is all good, lighting and nothing new was added. What will get rid of this before it becomes a problem? If it isnt already.

I bet your tank is about 6 months old? My suggestion is just siphon out as much as you can, do a series of water changes, and try to grow some caulerpa to compete with this stuff. It's very common; I've had outbreaks of it in both my thanks at about the 6 month mark. My guess is that usually it takes a few months for nutrients to accumulate, and there you have it. You could test for phosphates/nitrates and come up zero, but that's because this stuff will sequester all available nutrients faster than your test kit will measure. If you keep after it and solve the excess nutrient problem, it will go away eventually. You can also re-stock your sand bed with detrivores; bristle worms especially, and maybe a diadema urchin or two depending on your system size. I've heard fighting conchs will help too.

good luck
