Yes, it appears to be. Try peppermint shrimp. If that doesn't work a copperbanded butterfly will. You may have to move the butterfly out when it is done though as it can pick at coral polyps, yellow colonials, and other corals.

It's on 2 pieces of reble rock that I pulled out of my reble rock trash can which has been sitting in my garage without a powerhead for over a year.
The previous owner of this reble rock had Aiptasia in his main tank but had told me that he didn't have any in his trash can.

I agree Josh...the last pic looks like a polyp...not aiptasia.

I'm in San Marcos.
I can give you some pickiling lime or brand name kalk if you want. I'm around most of the day & night on Wednesday.

Josh, The trash can had saltwater in it but no powerhead or light.
After seeing the pictures on reefcentral, I'm pretty certain it's Aiptasia. I'll have to remove the other piece tonight and hope it didn't spread :(.

I brought this in on a frag, and now I see a bunch of small ones, I plan on trying to keep my feeding down, do a water change and hope for the best. Correct me if I'm wrong but any animal that will kill these will also kill other polyps?
Any other suggestions on how to safly get rid of these??
Sometimes it feels like if it's not one thing it's another...

Here are other varieties of Aiptasia.

I'm going to pull that piece of rock out and let it dry. I'm also going to dry out all the reble rock since I only use it to put frags.

Yeap that's the bugger...
I'm afriad to scrap them off, I hear they just grow more..
It amazes me how adapted some things and nature are.
Any suggestions on reef safe way to get rid of these are more than welcomed.

I have tried MANY, MANY, MANY methods to remove them. The best had has worked for me is to blast them with liquad calcium! All other methods mention will work sometimes too!

Would pelletized dolomitic lime work? This is the stuff that is used on your lawn to help w/ fert uptake. If so I have a 30lb. bag in storage.
thanks,
Adam
Bowfront if this is not the stuff I need, is it cool if I drive down this weekend. I have not been to the critter shop since I lived in Martindale, and would like to check out their stock.

Just go to the grocery store and get some pickling lime; it'll cost about $1.50. Mix up some paste, and gently feed it with an aspirator. The aiptasia will take the paste like food, and be dead in no time. Unfortunately, it will definitely come back. These things propogate by pedal laceration. It's kind of like a sci-fi movie with aliens that come back from the dead and try to conquer the world. Maybe, if you're lucky and only have a few, you can: 1. Kill any you see with kalk paste. 2. After it's dead, remove the rock, and scrape any trace of it's body off, then spread some more kalk paste on the rock in the area. You basically have to sterilize the immediate area of the rock. Maybe that will do it, but almost certainly you have more of these things than you can see.
Isn't there anyone in San Antonio that wants to try culturing Bergia nudibranchs? These things eat ONLY aiptasia. I'm sure we could get plenty of food for them...

You can try injecting it with many things i've had sucess killing them with lugol's solution (iodine supplement), declorinator, and fresh water. tried some other supplements but they came back in a week or so.

I have good luck with very hot fresh water. It appears to cook them. I inject it inside when possible, and always "coat" with hot water to try and cook the eintire thing. I have gotten lazy on the DAS tank, so it still has quite a few, but most of the ones I hit with this method were killed.
