Sorry about your wrasse, Jim.
I lost a maroon clown that way.
What a drag!

Oh, what a shame Jim. He was a beautiful creature. I have had a couple of wrasses to the very same thing.

Sorry Jim :( I am not getting any wrasses in the future after losing that harlequin and my 6 line in past 6 months to jumping.

Is there a way to put eggcrate or something of the like on top of the tank to keep animals like that in? I would assume everyone is running MHs, and I believe most people who do run an open top (I used PCs). I know Lowes had a cool silver looking eggcrate that looked pretty cool. Do the lights just get to hot to make that an option?

I put eggcrate on mine after the maroon jumped. No escapes since then. My 250W MH is about 8 inches above it. The eggcrate may block some of the light, but in my case it is barely noticeable.

Good to hear that. I think I have the MHs on the show tank about 12" or so (they are darned hot to work under, that's for sure). When I add some fish, I may add some crate. Would hate to have something attempt to evolve. Generally, they fail.

Picked up more than one Scott`s, six-line and flame hawk off the floor...
If used right egg crate will form an effective barrier and will actually aid in lighting....thought to concentrate it at the center
If you look closely at egg crate one side is wider and acts a funnel to concetrate light...thats why you find it at the lighting section at HD...
Just put the wider side up...

Eggcrate on my tank will melted! I use six 400 watt Mhs, four 65 watt pcs and two 95 watt vhos. And I like the bulbs very very close to the water. So no more jumpers!
