hey hows it goin, my names david im from S.A. and im 20 :D and well... where should i start?
ok well ive been keeping fish since i was 14 and started keeping marine fish november of last year, i have no idea what the hell im doing, i have a seven gallon minibow with around 10 lbs of live rock and it has been up and running since january, one C. clown, one yellow tailed damsel, one sea urchin and a feather duster (who all seem to be doing just fine). its filtered by a cpr bakpak2 and lit by a 12 inch, 18 watt jbj power compact that i got on e-bay for $40 (well its going to be lit as soon as i get it which should be in a week or so)i had shrooms but they melted away and died (lasted a good 2 months) and thats about it :-D

Welcome David...You came to the right place! I'm sure you'll be getting a lot of feedback....when you need it.

By the way...the light will play a vital part in keeping a saltwater tank...no matter what size it is...

Ok, right to the point, why did the mushrooms melt & die? I dont mean to be negative but, when you say "I have no idea what the hell Im doing" That says a lot! First off, what are your water perameters? Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, so on and so forth.... More info please. It seems to me at least, that after two months, the shrooms should have been fairly established. A tank six months old should be able to support shrooms.... Oh yeah,,,, welcome to MAAST!

WELCOME :D David,
this is a great place to meet people and get some good feedback on any problems you might be having with your tank.
i would say not having any or insufficent light is probably why you
lost your shrooms. wait till you get your light going and do a 50%
waterchange before you add any softies. also i would look into some
small PCs (power compacts).
thats just my opinion. but that should be enough light for that small
of a tank.
Ask arround someone may have an old system laying arround that you could pick up for cheap.
Thats the great thing about being in a group is that we can all help each other with our advice as well as with providing good deals for each other.
So welcome to MAAST and remember the only mistake you make is the one you never asked for help with.

Ditto the many Welcome's and add one more! :-o
In addition to all of the good suggestions, I would encourage you to get a good reef book such as "The conscientious marine aquarist". I have a small library as I like to have something other than the net to peruse.
Don't let the first crash bum ya out.
It just means you need more information and patience :)
