i just bought a calcium test from CB pets (great store btw)and am trying
to distinguish what color of blue they want it didnt come with a color chart
and itll go from purple to light blue arround 29/30 drops but 31 looks alittle bit more like a solid blue ..
im wondering if i have to much calcium in my tank and the test isnt
regestering untill the high end and not leaving much room for
distinction???
any help would be great
thanks R.
btw it would put my cal level arround 460-480

What brand of test kit is it? That way maybe someone with the same kit can offer their experience with it.

If it's the Salifert kit, I think you should read it when it goes really blue. FWIW, this kit has consistently read a little lower than other kits; ie. my calcium might test 400 with Hagen/sea test kits, but 360 or so with Salifert. Sooo, if the salifert test is giving you 460, you've got plenty

IT just says Sea Test on it and on the top it says Aquarium Systems
its put out by the same ppl that make instant ocean... if that helps
and on the test it says continue untill the test reads pure blue ...
how much is too much cal???

The high 500's woould be getting a little too much. It is harder on your pumps when you get too high it deposits on the pumps. 400's are good.
