ive had my 10 gal up and running for a little more than 6 months now with nothing but two hanging filters, one stuffed with caulerpa and the other with activated carbon that i switch each week when i do my weekly water change. its worked very well for me so far.

hope it helps, steve

If you want a skimmer, get a Remora or hang on Bak Pak. W/ the Bak Pak, you can put your heater inside the Bak Pak and save some space in the tank.

Also, with the bakpak, you can put a bag with carbon or other kinds of filter media in it...cs

Doubt they are still there but AquaDome had 2 used bakpaks for $15 each for sale last week.

Current theory for a nano tank (according to nano-reef.com) is that with weekly water changes (10%-20%) you shouldn't have to use a skimmer at all.

I disagree with the no skimmer idea on a nano, unless you're really keeping practically nothing in the tank. I know lots of people do it, but I'd like to know about an older system that's been successful for a long time, and what kind of load it's supporting.

The bakpak idea is good, but you might have a problem getting it to fit; it might be too tall and not hang on correctly. I don't know. A prizm skimmer will definitely fit, and will work fine. It's also a lot cheaper. Not as well made, but might be your only option with regards to fit.
