I've noticed alot of posts recently for algae problems... Red... Green... Brown... Hairy White... I, too, have had an increase in green algae...
Is everyone (especially those new to the the hobby) having an increase in algae growth???
Could it be the increase in temperature lately??? Any other suggestions???
Just curious...

Probably coincidence. I've had a pretty rough couple of months as far as algae goes. I'm fairly sure it's rooted in a move gone bad (the storage container with most of the water leaked - so I had to do a nice 95% water change - with tap water).
I'm at the "hairy green" stage like you (diatoms and cynao are cleared), and I'm researching tangs. I've been in the hobby 10 years, and I seriously considered quitting last month. :( Getting better now.

Yeah...I'm one of those having algae probs...hair algae & red. I have a thread about it also...
What type of water are you doing water changes with? Tap, store bought, RO/DI?? Think that may be at the root of my prob & maybe not quite enough circulation...but just bought add'l powerhead...

Using RO water... Lighting is of high quality... Water quality is good...
I haven't been keeping up w/ Kalk lately though...
I have green algae on glass... Red, green, brown, purple in the sand... Brown/red hair on my live rock...
Just can't figure it out... I did a 20% water change about 3 weeks ago... Maybe water is still in it's "cycle"... I don't know...
Oh well...

Test were *all* good last week... Ca and KH levels were a little low...
It's just really odd that SO many posts recently have (seemed to be) algae related...
Anyway... I'll check again...Thanks Josh...
