How do you tell the sex of a Percula clown?

So how do you find out what sex a Percula clown, is it a lucky
guess or is there a way to tell :?

They can turn themself into a male or female. Try getting a bigger one and smaller one. If you remember from seeing my tank, one of mine is bigger, and the other is smaller.

Clownfish are one of the types of fish that can actually change sexes. If you get them when the are young/small in size they are basically all male. When you pair them up one needs to be larger than the other. The larger one will actually change to a female. If they are mostly full grown, I think it is more difficult for them to change. In naturally occuring pairs, the female will become larger than the male. If you already have one and want to try to make a mated pair, look for one either much smaller in size or larger.

My clarkiis did the same thing. My female got huge, while she kept my male in check. Also, some clowns will change color, usually to a darker shade or black when united with an anemone.

on the feedback I guess I'll see if any one wants to trade a clarkii
clown for a percula or go to the LFS, Aqua dome had this clwon a couple days ago and have not had any for about 2 months so they are geting hard to find Aquatech charges an arm and a leg I think $48 for a pair and $20 something for one

24 for a ORA tank raised clown is not too too expensive. Remember the tank raised are generally much much healthier and better suited to captivity. They also breed easier. Most online places charge 45-60 or more for mated pairs.
