I have a 55 gallon trying to get a new reef set up going, having problems keeping my SecClone skimmer working properly, I am not sure just how to adjust the amount of bubbles to keep the skimmer working properly, any advice would be appreciated

Hi Stan,

I've had a seaclone protien skimmer for 4 months on my 55g tank. I like it Ok. I have had some trouble in the past (should have asked more questions first). A little bubble eacape is normal at first. If you start to get any large bubbles in the plastic tube, turn the black nozzle off and allow the larger bubbles to work their way out. Then start the nozzle again to get a nice froth of bubbles. Like justlemein said watch for salt creep in the air tube. I'm talking super bubbles filling th tank. I just change my airline every two weeks. Don't let the water level get to low and clean the sponge every two weeks. If the sponge gets too clogged it starts to suck in too much air and developes a large air pocket on the top bend. If for any reason you have to add any water treatments. Turn that skimmer off, do a 20 percent water change and run that marine charcol for a day before you turn it back on. I had a froth of bubbles in my tank like you wouldn't believe. I did the water change but I didn't use the charcol and I had a froth of bubbles in the tank like you wouldn't believe. I lost 90 percent of my fish  because I didn't notice right away. I'm not an expert by any means. These are just my own personal experiences.
