I'm looking for ideas for building a new stand for my 75. Anybody seen any good threads or sites I can look at for ideas? You all did a great job presenting hood options to someone a few weeks back.

Sean, what size footprint does your tank have? I might have some plans that will suit you.

It's a standard 75 gallon tank. 48" long by 18" deep. I have some ideas as to what I want(lots of under tank accessibility), and the finish style, but want to make sure I don't run into something after I build it that makes me go "I wish I had done that instead!"

Hey Sean.. if you take a trip to HD or Lowes.. in the wire rack section they have little metal wire shelves. They're great and pretty easy to install onto the doors of your stand. It should help save some room.

Another cool addition I have planned is a slideout tabletop just like the ones used for your keyboard on your desk. You can toss your test kits or anything on it while workin on the tank. I've got the parts.. just haven't installed it yet.

Hey Sean,

I have a couple of different designs that I can sent to you. One is for a 65gal breeder and the second for a 200gal tank. Maybe you can get some ideas. But first let me find and scan the designs.

Sorry, Sean, but I can't find those plans. I built my own stand last winter, and they're not too hard to do. Be sure and leave enough openning in the back for water lines, cords, etc. Also. make sure that the top is FLAT. the tank is supported by the edges, so you need to make sure that there are no high spots around the perimeter. No need to put any more stress on the glass sides.

Thanks for the help, all. My big thing is accessibility, as the two small doors I have on my existing stand aren't working for me. I'd like to get a look at those plans, Henry, if you get a chance.

I'm hoping to start on this in the next couple of weeks, time allowing. If so, I'll let you all know how it turns out.

Hi, Sean

Have you started on your stand? I have some extra support brackets if you want them, just let me know. Good luck on your stand.

Thanks for the help. I haven't had a chance to start work on it yet, as I've been making some motion activated cameras lately(part of another expensive hobby). Hoping to get started on it soon.
