View Full Version : March meeting - Seeking a volunteer home

We might as well start seeking out places for the next meeting....
Personally I think it would be great to have the meeting somewhere outside of San Antonio. Our members range from all over S. Texas so we should really try to involve those residents as well.
If you're willing to donate your time and home(or store), please speak up and let us know.
We can have a vote in a few weeks to determine where the meeting will take place.

If we are going out of town it would prob be best if we get good notice. I know I can get away for a few hours ok, but if I add a few extra hours for the drive it takes more finagaling. I am sure I am not the only one in this position.
I am excited about visiting some of our out of town members' houses!

Mihn's place is a definate stop on the MAAST tour bus! I think some had mentioned possible a summer time trip for that one, if it is ok with Mihn of course.
If the club keeps growing like it has, we may not be able to have them at peoples houses much longer!

Not to get off topic here, but do we even have a plan for the February meeting in a week? :police:

I've already talked to Minh about a meeting at his house. We'll more than likely do that during the summer since it'll be warmer weather for a collecting trip at the beach or jetties or where ever in Corpus you can go. :P

That would be awesome...could also include a diving trip out to a rig or something for those people who wanted to go out..I know you can charter a boat down there to go out to the jetties, and then a few miles out for a relatively cheap price...especially when splitting it up several ways. And i dont think they're are any laws against collections off the gulf coast.

Anyone else willing to donate their place let us know... we can vote on it in a few days.

Hi Chris,
PLease remember to bring the salt bucket. I'm going to take a short nap, so knock on the window on the right, or call me on my mobile.

June, July or Ausgus in Corpus would be great. We can go for a collecting trip, visit Tropical Fish Haven. There are quite a few reefers here in Corpus. I know of two who have excelent tanks. If they agree, we can visit them also. I guess we can plan for a whole day event, or even two days.
For March meeting, Tim (if he agree) or Jim's place would be nice.
I can't come to Feb. meeting but hope to make it to March meeting.

I would like to stay the night and make a fishing trip out of this as well..
Go with one of the charter crews... It can be very fun...And cheap even more so if you like to et fish.. I caught 15lbs of red snapper lsat run and still have some in the freezer. Nearly paid for the whole trip.
Also I can haul (4) in my ride comfortably or (6) kinda friendly (in addition to myself and wife)
We can chat more when the time comes but let me know what you all think about making a weekend of it?

If Jim is up for it, I would love to check out his setups and find out more about clams. Now that I have more than enough lighting, I would be interested in getting one from him maybe at the meeting too.
Also would like to get some of the Instant Algae he has developed.

here's an idea we could probably go see both jim and tims house kind of like a small tour. maybe 1-2 hr. at each place since they live pretty close to one another. meeting should be scheduled kind of early so we wouldn't be rushing.

Ray has a good idea. I have never been to Tim's or Jim's and I am sure there are many others out there. Would be nice to check out their setups and learn more about Jim's Clam & Coral food and maybe he could do a mini class on clams too. It would work out as well so we aren't invading their places for too long either. They would probably want some advance notice to place some orders in time so we could have a group shopping spree
