Hi;
Anybody know where I can find a better selection of PVC fittings than Home Depot? Specifically, I'm looking for 1" threaded couplers, elbows, small quantity of 1" sched 40 pipe, etc. Home Depot doesn't have 'em. The guy there said something about a pool supply place. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Matt

I had a hard time finding stuff too. I ended up having to use bushings/reducers to do things the way I wanted. Hardware stores will just have the basic everyday stuff. Lowe's may have a little more than H.D. Lowe's also sells 5ft. sections of sched 40 pvc. I shop at the one on 35/O'conner and it is next to the pvc connectors, not next to the pipe section. It cost about the same as buying a 10ft. piece. You could try also plumbing supply company if you are looking for specific connectors. Look in the phone book. I know one company named Ferguson's. Might even try Grainger.

Lowes (at least the one by me) seems to have a bigger selection of PVC parts than the 2 Home Depot's i've visited.
You could always try savko (http://www.savko.com/) online if you can't find parts locally.

Aye, I had great luck at the Lowes near me (1604/Blanco). They had literally an entire isle dedicated to the various size categories of PVC. It will probably vary from store to store.

Lowes is good. I don't know why, but the gray Schedule 80 PVC is in a separate Isle from the similar Schedule 40 White PVC.

I've used Ferguson and sprinkler supply companies in order to find some hard to find parts for a skimmer I built some time back.

Have any pics of your skimmer? Some of the DIY stuff i've seen looks better than the retail products. 8)

if your willing to wait for delivery, champion and pet solutions has all kinds of fittings for that purpose.

I retired it quite some time back. It was great when I was single(it was 4 foot tall counter current skimmer). Wife prefers the berlin that mounts under the tank.
The plans I used were Larry Jacksons. I can see if I still have them somewhere, if you say you're interested.

Nah don't go through the trouble... not interested in making one... but it's cool to see the talents others have in building stuff.
