Are there different models of the streams? I thought the sucker cost $300(plus extra if you want to invest in Tunze controller.)

This 6080 model in this review only cost $167(free shipping, no tax from MD.) The Reeftec cost around $90 to $100, so some more dollars and you get Tunze.

It's the 6100 and 6110 that are in the $300 range. I think they're a bit too pricey but I do like that added ability to control the speed.

I've been thinking about getting one or two of the reeftec's which would set me back about $100 for one, but that 6080 model sure is tempting too. I think the reeftec would be better for an alternating current though as I plan on having it switch on and off thoughout the day. (And possibly switching on and off less at night so the water is a bit more calm)

They say the Tunze can be used on and off, but you have to leave it off for an hour. It will also shorten the life of the pump....????? What does shorten mean? It last 4 years instead of 5? 9 years instead of 10? At that price if it only lasted 1 year that would be $14 a month. 2 years would be $7 a month, that is probably less than you spend on food.
