Ray -
I still haven't had any luck finding a true percula clownfish around here. Please let me know if you will be ordering any or if you could get one in. I also might be interested in a fighting conch and/or some other snails for my tank. Thanks!

Ray - I meant to ask you at the meeting if you were still going to be making this order? I need more critters to chow down on my ich. If you are making an order, let me know.

I'll check around at the LFS this week. I want more cleaner shrimp. What else eats the ich?

usually the skunk cleaners are the best, but i've had fire shrimp as well do cleaning duties. the fish seemed to prefer togo to the fire first before the skunks although they are bit more exspensive (skunks $15.00 & fire $20.00). i've also noticed some coral bandeds do some cleaning, but that's not always the case. neon gobies are good, but you have some already. there are also cleaner wrasses, but they have a poor survival rate when the parasites run out, as that's only what they prefer to eat.
here's that website i was telling you about on the standpipes to quiet you noise. very good photos & diagrams to follow.

Thanks for the link!
I was reading on RC and they all seem to say that with a reef tank there is NEVER a reason to run a UV, it does more harm than good, even short term. They were also saying that the ich won't go away at this point, that one needs to hypo or copper the fish to get rid of them and run the tank with the LR and inverts for 30 days fish-free. Whatcha think? I would have to destroy the tank to get those guys out, and if I did my QT is only 20 gallons. How could I even keep the tang in there for 30 days, let alone the whole bunch of them?

What you're describing sound like a lot of hassle (catching the fish and put it in the low salinity, coppered quarantine tank.)
Have you try spiking the tang's food with garlic?
What ever you do, don't put copper into your main reef tank.

I won't mess with the salinity or the copper in my main. Yes, I have tried garlic in the food. I am heading off to one of the health food stores tomorrow to pick up some extract. Folks said they had seen it sold at SunHarvest. Seems like much less hassle than playing with the garlic crusher. I am not doing the garlic religiously b/c it is a pain in the tush. Hopefully I can find some at the store.
I know that seems like a hassle. That is why I was asking if that sounded right. Sounded a bit like I'd have fish dying of stress from trying to get rid of the ich.

I asked Alamo about that stuff last week and they did not have the slightest idea what I was talking about.... If I do not find something at Sun Harvest, I will go look again. Thanks, Josh.

Ray -
Have you done this order yet? I need the ich eaters.
Let me know what you can get. Neons, the cheaper shrimp that clean...
What can you get me for the ich for $60 that would be the most efficient? Shrimp, another goby, mix? Right now goby only in small tank, none in big one. (The one in there was in the overflow when I was doing the standpipes and I did not see him. He did not like the sump).

I got the mods you mentioned done and they are great. Now the sump is the big noise. I won't be home sat but will be home sunday. I have a LOT of yard work to do. So I will be between Lowes/ Home Depot and my house all sunday. If you want to see if you have any ideas, sunday is fine.

Ray - I found a percula clownfish this weekend so I am set on fish. I am still interested in a fighting conch and maybe some other snails. I need something to keep my sand bed stirred up. Right now I have 2 tiger tail cucumbers, 1 tiger striped sea serpant, 2 burgandy starfish, some scarlet reef hermits, dwarf red tip hermits, and some margarita snails. None of them really run the sand bed that much and I think I am now having a diatom outbreak. I might also be interested in an emerald mythrax crab as I do have some bubble algae.
Please let me know what you think, thanks!

chris,
good to hear you finally found that true perc., sounds like you could use some nassarius snails if you don't have any they like to go in and out of the sand. i have some as well as a couple of fighting conchs and scarlet hermits, i'll be getting an order tomorrow also with some other stuff. i should be free this weekend if you want to stop by.

i have two right now that i've had for a few weeks already they really move around everywhere and are one of the best cleaners i've seen they go on the glass rocks and bore through the gravel. they're little higher than normal for some unknown reason $15.00ea but they're wild ones about 2.5" or so not captive babies which are alot cheaper but seem to be hard to get right now. i don't mind having these guys since they're good cleaners.
