check out the marinecenter.com if you're curious to see what a $1500.00 scorpion fish looks like, and no i didn't make a mistake on the price. they claim there is a waiting list, i guess maybe public aquariums doing research. i always like to see what they have from week to week. it's amazing how many fish they are selling for $300-$400.00-$500.00, and i wonder who is buying these rare fish without really next to no info. on them. however the company is out of dallas and they seem to get alot of rare and unusual specimens whether fish, corals, or inverts. although i never ordered from them, kind of scared of there prices. oh they had a purple based rose anemone, i really would like one but the price was $249.00. i've bought $100.00 fish before and think that's my limit.

They do have a lot of rare and nice fish. I haven't read any posts of anyone purchasing fish from them. If you're up in Dallas you can get LR pretty cheap from them since they offer FREE local delivery. $3.50-$3.99/lb for their Fiji is a pretty good deal without shipping.

If I had the 4 grand to spend(and I lost my mind for a few hours) I'd be tempted to buy a Gem Tang (http://www.themarinecenter.com/zebrasomagemmatum1.htm).

I emailed them a while back and was quoted $190 for the Jewel Tang (http://www.themarinecenter.com/tangguttata.htm) which is equally as nice imo.

If I were to be able to find some good info(haven't searched yet) I may end up going for it one day.

I had a look at the Marine Center. Oh my, I know what kind of tang I want for my 300, I am probably going to have to do triple shifts 24/7 to afford it thought. "Maybe they will take take my first born in trade. ha".

Nice fish. There live rock looks pretty good to, for a reasonable price. Can't beat the shipping costs either.

Since the marine center is about 4-5 hours away does anybody know if they will ship livestock via ground service??

Ground service would probably take 2 or 3 days(unless you're lucky). It's cheap, so they'll delay it and not rush if they don't have to.

I've had packages sent via USPS priority arrive next day in Dallas though.

Unless things have changed, they won't let you go to the door to pick up stuff... :( It would be worth the drive if they did.

I don't think they would ship livestock with ground. And you don't want to chance it any way. They do ship ground for LR. Supposedly, if you use (Fed EX or UPS) Business to Business is supposed to take one day. I did Business to resident ground. I ordered twice, once with Fed-Ex, once with UPS. ONe arrived next day, the other arrived in two days. Even with LR, they packed very carefully ( plastic bags inside plastic bags.)

Don't forget about tax, and box charge.

Their web site claims:

The rest of Texas and Oklahoma: Up to 50 pounds delivered for only $20!

That ain't bad!

That's only for their LR and sand though... :?

Or at least it's only on their LR/LS page.... I wouldn't mind finding out what type of shipping service they use for that.

I have heard good things about the quality of their liverock. I have checked them out before they have a great selection of different triggers, angels etc. I was reccomended them as a place to find healthy non infant hand caught clown triggers.

It was either Fed-Ex or UPS when I try it.

Sounds like they may use Lone Star overnight. They're cheap, and they server TX and OK only.

I actually ordered a couple of fish from them recently.

Austin is including in there $10 dollar delivery zone and the fish were shipped UPS ground and arrived perfectly the next day. UPS actually guarantees delivery to zip codes within a certain distance of dallas, they have a map on their site.

I have ordered from them and San Antonio is in the $10 shipping zone. One clown arrived dead and the other died shortly after. They gave me a credit no problem, but having fish arrive DOA pretty much sucks. I wouldn't do the same thing again. Next time, I am going to have it delivered to my sisters apartment in Dallas and pick it up myself. That way I can get it home quicker and avoid the carrier bouncing the thing around in the back of the truck for 8 hours.
