I have a Ebo-Jager automatic aq heater that is set too low. I took it out to check it out and it is set at 73 - Problem is I do not remeber how to reset the temp dial on it and I am afraid that I am going to break it if I keep trying. Anyone know about these boogers?

Twist the big ring at the top it probably has the temp on it. The needle stays still. They are hard to turn, but you need to drop it back to the lowest temp and then set it up to 80 degrees, or your desired temp. I run my tanks from 80-84 degrees.

Thanks, Tim. That worked. It had been so long since I last played with it that I was afraid I was turning that wrong thing and would break it!

Good glad it helped. Did you get a chance to read the article I sent under Temperature and salinity?

Yup, I sure did. That is actually what made me get off my tush to check my heater. I thought that my Hippo got his ich from being chased around the tank constantly by the Mimic Lemonpeel, but last night I noticed that lots of my other guys had a mild case starting. I checked my temp throughout the evening and morning, and with this little cold front my tank has been fluctuating about 7 degrees during the day. I always check everything in the evening when I get home, never anytime else. Oops! So, now that I read the article I decided that my normal 84 evening reading is not as bad as I thought, and I may slowly inch my salinity up a tad. Now that I have reset my heater the day/night fluctuation should be reduced. Hopefully this will reduce these guys stress and the ich will clear up.

Thanks again, Tim.

7 degrees is a lot! It should help.
