So I wanted to make this thread to document my adventures with my soon to be new tank. As the title stated, I'm recently having my new house built and my current 100 gallon just didn't look right in the designated location I had for it. It just sort of looked very small and didn't really capture the area well. To be honest, I saw Prancis's tank and now I want to incorporate my acrylic frag tank into the sump area of my stand to avoid having tanks litter my new house. To do this, I need to add another 1.5' to my current tank and so I just decided to move up to a full extra 2'. This will help keep everything centrally located and I will eventually plumb the frag tank so that it can be isolated from the main system if I need it to.
The tank itself I got from Terry at Salty Fish Aquariums. Big shout out to Terry for letting me know that he had a tank for me sitting in his shop. The tank was a custom job from Planet Aquariums that was left behind, the original person's loss and my gain!
The tank measures at 72.5 x 24.5 x 18 and is reef ready with two returns and two drains. It's shallower than my current setup, which means I can't go with multiple levels like I originally wanted but the light penetration on this tank will be insane and perfect for my corals.
Here are some basic pics of the tank in the shop, disregard the black stand that it is on. I'm going with a new one built for the tank through Terry's hookup:
