    Default Hi from Minnesnowta!

At Mizeny's suggestion, I thought I would register here and maybe post a little about myself. I've enjoyed talking with Mizeny and sharing our obsession with zoas and palys, and after visiting this site I thought this looked like a really good group. I'm actually from chilly MN, though the weather here has been pleasant enough lately.

A little (or alot) about myself: I'm a stay-at-home dad at this time of my life, and that is my first priority and joy. My wife and I have a 5 year old son and a 2 year old daughter and a third on the way. After working fifteen years in various facets of the pet industry, including a stint as a territory sales manager for a major dry-goods wholesaler, I can honestly say there isn't anything else more rewarding than kids. Aside from that I have always (for at least the last 19 years) had a passion for fishkeeping. I'm still very involved in my freshwater hobby and I maintain 48 freshwater aquariums which I breed exotic tropicals in, aside from my almost 5 reef tanks. I'm an active member of both my local freshwater and marine aquarium societies and have spawned almost 200 species of freshwater fish to date. Right now I have a 75 zoa/paly dominated tank, going for around 8 years, a 30B spare parts/frag tank, a 50g frag tank, a BC 29 mushroom and paly tank, and I am currently working on setting up my 310g dream tank (86"x36"x24") which will house most of my sps and lps. When I say "working on", I mean thinking about it alot. I've been "working on" it for the last year and a half. I just hope I can have that thing up before I turn 30 (approaching too fast)! This hobby brings me a lot of joy, and I find it especially rewarding to culture and propagate a variety of saltwater organisms, much as I enjoy working with propagating freshwater fishes. In the near future a hope of mine is to begin breeding some species of saltwater fishes. With my family and evening job, my time is limited, but it's always relaxing at the end of a day to sit and stare at all the cool critters in my tank and see the daily changes.

The Fishroom that Was (back in the glory days before kids and before our move)
This is just the South Row (half the old fishroom). Had 168 tanks at one time.

So, hope to be able to contribute a little here and get to know some more folks. Hi to Mizeny and Belinda!

Thanks for posting! I think you make everybody else's aquarium obsession seem totally reasonable! That's a lot of tanks. lol

Way cool setup. Looks like you took your store setup to your house.

As a stay at home Dad myself, I can attest to love and reward of being a primary care giver to a child. I miss getting out in the field, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. Plus, it gives you more time to mess with the tanks. Very nice to meet you.

Here are a few shots from the 75. These are actually several months old. I should probably get some new FTS as things are almost completely different (and fuller).
