After much deliberation, frustration, delegation (thanks again Kevin kkiel02) and exasperation, the schedule for the San Antonio Tank Tour is complete! It is going to be a very full day visiting 12 MAAST homes, a day that is going to be full of great tanks, lots of treats and surprises.

Rather than breaking it up into two tours, we are going to have one long marathon tour that people can join as they are able and hang with us as long as they can keep up!

Here is our list of tanks (in viewing order). **All times are approximate best guesstimates, so be sure to call and check on our progress if you are meeting up with us along the way:

1. Allan (9:00 - 9:30)
2. z28pwr / mrs.z28pwr (9:45 - 10:15)
3. BSJF (10:30 - 11:00)
4. alexdmg (11:30 - 12:00)
5. Joseph (12:30 - 1:00)
6. Mike / Kristy with lunch break! (1:30 - 2:30)
7. ErikH (2:45 - 3:15)
8. pennies2cents / roscozman (3:30 - 4:00)
9. phippsj (4:15 - 4:45)
10. cowboy572 (5:00 - 5:30)
11. stangchris (5:45 - 6:15)
12. cedrod (6:30 - ???)

The first stop on the tour will be Allan's house at 9:00am and we expect to arrive at our final destination at cedrod's home at 6:30pm.

You can follow along by either:

Meet up with us at Aquarium Designs at 8:30am to get your copy of the day's itinerary and caravan to our first destination where you will be greated by the big man himself handing out coffee and donuts.
Or make a request to get your copy of the itinerary emailed to you. This way you can meet up with us anywhere along the way by just calling to see what stop of the tour we are on. You can request it in this thread or by pm by sending your email address.

Kristy
Mon, 23rd Aug 2010, 07:23 PM
We should hit Joseph's about 12:30 and stay there til 1:00. Goal is to spend 30 minutes at each stop and then there is the allotted travel time between stops on the tour.

Great, I saw a light go on in Mama's eyes when I mentioned this tour. She is taking this opportunity to take a break from the men in her life and relax.

AKA Kicking us out of the house!!!!!!

There are two of us that will be on two wheels, anyone else?

Also, Kristy do you want me to show up at AD? It would probably make it a bit easier to find the house if you have a road captain... er, to the first house that is. I happen to know where it's at.

alexdmg

I'll be on two weeks if I go solo, but if my wife goes it's car A/C time. Lol! I won't know until the night before.

lol, I thought you were mocking me with the two weeks. I assume that's just a typo because I really understood the second part. My "other" is looking forward to a day without me.

Please don't feel like you shouldn't go on the tour because you didn't / weren't able to RSVP!!! And DEFINITELY don't feel like you shouldn't eat anything because of the RSVP either. (This means Cory and anyone else out there who had the same idea!)

We are going to have PLENTY of food so everyone is welcome to tag along and fully participate, including the food!

Besides, there was something funky going on with the RSVP system... Mike and I were the first two to RSVP. Then a couple of days later when I looked to see how many had signed up, neither of our names were there. I did mine again but never got Mike's on there.... so the RSVP page may be inaccurate for several reasons. I can tell you there were quite a few people requesting the itinerary page who are not on the RSVP list.

Good to meet everyone, who came by. Thanks to Chris and Gabe for going to the store to get us beer! :) I haven't seen some of you in a long freakin' time.

Just an informal tally, how long did y'all spend working on your tanks? My wife laughed at me watching me scrape the glass repeatedly. I think I spent about 6-8 hours over today and yesterday sucking up MILLIONS of red planaria. Also picked around and got up all of the empty shells, moved the frags to one corner, sucked up more planaria, & got my wedding ring bit at least six times by my goldbar wrasse.

We appreciate everyone coming by.

Erik, Tab, Sophia, and little baby Jeremiah! OH and the cats, haha.

allan
Sat, 28th Aug 2010, 06:18 PM
Yeah to echo Erik, really good to see you all.

I placed a bag in the sump with pep shrimp and just as I was fixing leave to catch up to the convoy my wife came out to tell me that I had water all over the place. Apparently the bag caused the water to rise and before I knew it I had about 15 gallons of salt water on the floor.

Almost threw in the towel today. Came real close. Stay tuned, it happens again and I'm out. Wow, that depressed me just thinking about it.

Really good to see you all today.

15 gallons of salt water on the floor.

15 gallons? That's so little! No reason to give up. :)

I am hoping somebody took pics. Had to do some family stuff this morning and didn't get finished in time to join you all. Sounds like everybody put a lot of work into their tank prep. :)

How often do you guys do these? Once a year? Or twice a year? Might be in for a spring one. Things appear to be going well for my tank this time.

allan
Sat, 28th Aug 2010, 09:35 PM
Yeah, 15 is depressing to me... Angry wife complaining about the hobby is the fuel behind my true distress.

Probably should split town and do two a year so the travel isn't so much.

Thanks to all who participated in the tank tour today... we had a great turnout and saw some really nice tanks. Thanks to Gabe for supplying the food for the evening festivities. Kristy and I are exhausted and cut out when the party was just getting started. I think there was some talk of Chris's bikini making an appearance at the pool. :)

It seemed like everyone had a great time and the event was a big success.

We had a great time on the Tank Tour and also appreciated everyone who made it to our house as well. It was very well organized even though I made a wrong turn a couple of times. Thanks to Kristy and Kevin for organizing this great event. This is one of many exciting events we have here on MAAST. I can totally relate to what you guys are saying about getting inspiration from each stop. Those were some really beautiful tanks! Mike and I counted about 20 tanks in the day when you figure that some of the homes had a second or even a third tank they were showing.

phippsj, you are being way too modest. Your rockwork was really inspiring. Very well done!
